The space

Fall is when Paradise gets good. Peak color runs roughly October 5 through 20, and Tahquamenon Falls 30 minutes away, amber water running through gold hardwoods, is the reason people drive up here. Whitefish Point is 20 minutes north with the shipwreck museum, the lighthouse, and one of the best fall migration sites in North America.
The real advantage is the dark. Sunset is around 6:45 in October instead of 9:30, which means you can hunt Yooperlites along the shoreline with a UV light and be back at the firepit by eight. The agates glow fluorescent orange. Aurora activity climbs around the equinox, and Whitefish Bay has no light pollution to fight. You do not have to stay up half the night to see any of it.
